We had an awesome opportunity last week to work with a rider who just purchased a Trek Rail e bike and had it equipped with the Bosch Connect module. The connect module is a neat little gps unit that acts as a tracker and an alarm that bolts right to your Bosch motor. Unfortunately, trek does not yet produce the necessary “motor armor” to protect the bikes motor that also accommodates for the extra space that the connect module takes up. We handmade a carbon fiber version of the “motor armor” to protect this rider’s investment while also shedding some serious weight. The weight savings was roughly 65% while maintaining the same amount of protection to those sensitive electronic bits.
